Chapter 1-4

Snow's POV

Love has been in the air lately. With Grape getting married and moving out, I thought that that would be it for a while. But I was wrong.

The following day, I walked into Cloud's room only to find a girl with him.

Snow: Who's this, Cloud?
Cloud: My girlfriend, Lime. I'm sure its pretty obvious.
Lime: Hi, Mrs. S. *waves*
Snow: Well, hello Lime. Nice to meet you. Make yourself at home.

To say I was surprised is an understatement. Cloud is the last one of the boys I'd expect to have a girlfriend because he is so anti-social and hot-headed.

Since that day, Lime has moved in with us. After talking to her, I learned that she came from an abusive family and left home once she was old enough to do so. When I learned that she was homeless, I offered for her to stay with us. She came here to Newcrust to start a new life, and hasn't been able to save up enough money for a house yet. She told me that she met Cloud in school and had been dating for several months now.

I also learned that she is a really good match for Cloud. She is a tough girl who can hold her own when things get rough, but is also really sweet once you get to know her, despite her tough exterior. She deals with Cloud's attitude and balances him out pretty well. After a couple months, she had become like part of the family.

About five months after she had moved in, I noticed a change in her. She looked like she had gained some weight and she had been feeling nauseous pretty frequently. I decided to pull her aside and have a talk with her.

Snow: Come with me, please Lime.
Lime: Okay? Sure.
Snow: So Lime, is there anything you'd like to tell me?
Lime: Uh-no, I don't think so. What's going on?
Snow: I think you know. Lime, are you pregnant?
Lime: Shoot! Is it that obvious?
Snow: As someone who has had six kids, yes, it's obvious to me. Maybe not so much for everyone else. I have seen some changes in you over the past couple weeks, and they all point to pregnancy. So it's true then?
Lime: *blushes* Yes, it's true. I'm so scared; I don't know what to do. How do I tell Cloud?
Snow: Just tell him, he'll figure it out eventually. I'd be easier to just be honest with him.
Lime: *sigh* Okay, I don't think he's going to take it well.

Lilac's POV

I'm working on my homework when Lime comes into the room. The two of us have become pretty close in recent months. She's become like a sister to me. It makes me wonder, if someone like Cloud can find his soulmate, why can't I? Sure, I've dated people in the past but nothing worked out. I guess time will tell.

Anyway, Lime comes into the room, looking stressed. I get up to put my schoolwork back into my backpack when Cloud comes into the room as well. I didn't expect what happened next.

Lime: Cloud I have something to tell you. I need you to listen, and not get angry okay?

Cloud: Uh, you're scaring me. What do you want to say?
Lime: Cloud, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. I'm pregnant.
Cloud: *yelling* WHAT? HOW? I THOUGHT YOU WERE ON BIRTH CONTROL! YOU KNOW I DON'T WANT CHILDREN! Lime: I was on birth control, I don't know what happened! *pauses* Oh wait-- I skipped a day on accident. It must've have thrown everything off balance and allowed the pregnancy to take place. I'm sorry Cloud, I didn't want this to happen.

Cloud doesn't say anything, turns around and storms out the front door. I knew exactly where he was going. Lime starts crying.

Lime: *sobbing* I can't believe he's acting like this. He's so angry. There's no way he's going to stay with me now.
Lilac: Let me talk to him, okay? I know where to find him. I'll talk some sense into him. Be back in a little while.

Cloud was exactly where I knew he'd be--at the bar. Like I said before, he has a drinking problem. When he gets stressed or angry he goes there to drink his troubles away.

Lilac: Cloud, you jerk!  I can't believe you did that. She's really upset now. So what if she's pregnant? You can't yell at her like that. You're just as responsible as she is. It takes two to make a baby! And she's keeping the baby no matter what you say so, if you love her like you say you do, you need to suck it up and be there for her.

Cloud: Dammit Lilac, I know, okay?! I lost my cool. She knows I don't want children and the idea just stresses me out. I panicked. I don't want to be a father. And, truth is, I'm scared. I don't know how to be a father. What if the baby doesn't like me?
Lilac: You're being stupid, Cloud. Your baby isn't going to hate you. Just treat it like our dad treated you.
Cloud: *sigh* You're right. I need to go back and apologize to her. Hopefully she'll forgive me.

I went home, and Cloud followed suit. Lime was sitting in the living room when we got home.

Cloud: Lime, honey, I-I'm so sorry. I love you and will support you and our baby as long as you let me. I panicked and as you know, anger is my way of dealing with stress. I swear, I won't let it happen again. Do you forgive me?
Lime: Y-yes. I forgive you. I'm as surprised and scared as you are. We'll deal with this together.

Cloud really got into dad-mode as the pregnancy progressed. I was shocked to see that side of him. The way he looked at Lime, it's something I've never seen from him before. I guess they are soulmates after all. He perks up when she comes into the room, and on more than one occasion, puts his hands on her belly and talks to the baby. Like I said, shocking.

Then the day that the couple was so nervous about arrived. Lime went into labor in the early morning hours, we rushed her to the hospital. She had asked me if I would be in the delivery room with her and Cloud. I had agreed, because, after all, she is my friend.

The time dragged on as Lime had contractions that were slowly coming closer together. Then finally the baby arrived, a baby girl that they named Kiwi.  This was the first time I had experienced a birth. It was terrifying, yet beautiful at the same time.

After Lime was discharged from the hospital, we all went home exhausted from what we all had just endured. Within a couple of weeks, Lime and Cloud found a place of their own and moved out, leaving just me, my parents and two younger brothers in the house.

Chapter 1-3

As the weeks went on, Grape and Mango grew accustomed to Parenthood. Grape still lived here but he went over to visit Mango and the baby everyday. On weekends, he would stay overnight to help out. Balancing school and baby duty was proving tough for the two of them but they made it work.
Sweet Residence, 5PM
Mango's POV

Grape asked me to meet him here tonight so that we can go out. It came out of nowhere, but hey, I'm not complaining. Any time spent with him alone is a blessing. A break from the baby is needed right about now. Don't get me wrong, I would give my life for him, but sometimes you just need to get away. I walk into his house and he's sitting there waiting for me. He gets up an kisses me on the cheek.
Grape:Ready to go?
Mango: Yeah, let's go. I'm starving.
Grape: Good, I have just the place.

We pulled up to the restaurant, one that was newly built this past year. It was beautiful, looking more like a spa than an eating establishment.

Mango: Wow, Grape this looks awesome. What's the occasion?
Grape: We had just had a baby, I think we both need this.

He looked off, like he's on edge. What's going on? There's something to that's bothering him.

Mango: Are you okay? You look nervous.
Grape: I'm fine, just a little stressed with school and stuff. Big exam in a couple days.
Mango: Alright, if you say so.
Our dinner arrived and we talked about school and Fig, and other random life things. Then Grape stands up and gestures for me to do the same. I thought he wanted to dance or something, but then he gets down on one knee. Now I understand why he's been acting anxious all evening.

Grape: Mango Meringue, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?
Mango: *getting tearing eyed* Yes, of course I will. *pauses* You're not asking me to marry you just because we have a baby are you?
Grape: No, baby, I would have done this either way. *Smiles* I mean it.
He slips the ring on to my finger and I marvel at how gorgeous it is. I can't believe this just happened. What I thought was just a date to have a break from everything, ended up being one of the best nights of my life.

Mango: I do have one condition though, Grape.
Grape: Sure, lay it on me.
Mango: If we're doing this, we need to wait until after high school for the wedding.
Grape: I agree completely. So yes, I accept that condition.

With that cleared up, we celebrated the rest of the evening. Since we're only Juniors in school, our wedding wouldn't be until after we graduate next year. That gives us plenty of time to prepare and make sure we actually want to do this. Of course I believe him when he says he does, but you never know what life will throw at you.

One and a half years later
Lilac's POV

The day of Grape and Mango's wedding has finally arrived. The two recently graduated and decided that today will be the day. Mango looks beautiful in her sparkly white gown; and Grape looks dashing in his purple suit. Everyone arrived an hour before the ceremony and were eagerly awaiting the moment the two officially become husband and wife.

Both Blizzard and I have entered our teenage years since the proposal and we're so happy that this day has finally arrived.

Mango's family came and it was the first time I personally have met them. Her parents are a little more strict than mine but they are nice enough.

Her younger sister and brother, twins Banana and Tangelo are my age. They are both pretty cool, and I can see myself becoming friends with them in the future.

Ash and Raspberry flew in from out of town to attend. It was great seeing them again. Smore had school-related events going on that evening, so he stayed back in San Marzipan with one of Raspberry's friends.

Mango and Grape brought little Fig along as well. Boy, is that kid growing fast. He is so adorable!

It was a beautiful ceremony. It's obvious that the love between Mango and Grape is forever. I am so happy for my brother and his gorgeous wife.

After the wedding, the two went to their brand new house and enjoyed their first night as husband and wife.

Chapter 1-2

Grape's POV
Eight months into Mango's pregnancy.

Mango is, as usual, over at my house hanging out in my room. She smiles at me, absolutely glowing. Pregnancy suits her quite well.

Mango: I found out the sex of the baby today.
Grape:  Oh, yeah? What is it--boy or girl?
Mango: Hmmm...do you really want to know *grins*
Grape: Of course, I'd like to not have to call the baby 'it'.
Mango: I know...how 'bout you guess. I'll tell you if you're right or wrong.
Grape: Okay, let's see...

I get up from the bed, and she does as well. I put my hands on her belly, feeling around to see if I can get a vibe from the baby.  What are you little one? I take my hands back off and look at her.

Grape: Hmmm...I'm going to say it's a beautiful baby girl.
Mango: Is that your final answer?
Grape: Yes, I'm certain. I am a baby whisperer.
Mango: Well...
Grape: Oh, come on. Am I right?
Mango: Nope, you're wrong! It's a boy!
Grape: Ahh...I should have known. Boys run in my family after all.
Mango: I'll say. Your mom probably had a heck of a time with all you boys running around and causing trouble *smiles*.
Grape: Oh, you know it *smiles back*
Mango: Oh!
Grape: (panicking) What? What's wrong?
Mango: Sorry, it's nothing. He just kicked. It startled me, that's all.
Grape: I wanna feel!

I put my hands back on her belly, she put her hands on mine. Then I feel a little bit of pressure push back at me. It was my son, letting me know he is there. It was at this moment that it really hit me. I helped make this little guy, and he belongs to me (and Mango of course). We are going to be parents!

.....................................................................................................................

One month later. 8:30AM
Snow's POV

*ring* *ringring*

 Snow: Hello?
Mango: Hey Mrs. Sweet. It's Mango. I wanted to let you know that the baby is coming, and he's not going to wait much longer. I didn't want to bother Grape while he's at school, so can you please let me know when he gets home?
Snow: Of course, honey. I'll let him know. We'll stop by this afternoon.
Mango: Thank you, see you guys later. Bye!

3:00 PM
Grape's POV

Snow: Grape! Good, you're home. Mango called me this morning. She said she was in labor. She didn't want you to skip school, so she didn't call you right away. She wanted me to tell you.
Grape: Oh my gosh! I need to call her and see if she's okay!

I call Mango, nervous that something might have gone wrong or that she'd be mad at me for not calling her sooner. Someone picked up the phone.

??: Hello?
Grape: Um, hello Mr. Meringue, it's Grape. Is Mango there? Is she okay? I just heard the news and I was worried that--
Tangerine (Mango's dad): Oh, hey Grape. Yes, everything is fine. She's resting. Your son was born at 1:05 this afternoon, here at the house. you can stop by whenever you'd like to see them.
Grape: Great thank you, be there soon.

This is it. This is the moment I've been anxiously awaiting since I've learned of the pregnancy. Time to meet my son.

An hour later, after Mango woke up from her nap, I hurry over to her house which a couple blocks away. I can't wait any longer.

I arrive at the house, and Mango herself greets me. I pull her into my arms.

Grape: Hello, beautiful. How are you?
Mango: A little tired, but great other than that. Do you want to meet him?
Grape: Yes, definitely. It took all my self control not to come over as soon as I got the news.

She takes me into her room at the back of the house. I see the bassinet as soon as I walk through the door. There he is.

Mango: *picks up baby* He's finally here. I chose the name Fig. Is that okay with you?
Grape: Perfect, he looks like a little fig.

On first glance, I was alarmed that he didn't look like either of us because of his pale skin. Then I remembered that, in my family at least, usually babies start out pale and their skin gets darker
gradually as they get older. She hands him to me. I feel the little warm bundle in my arms and can't believe it. It's such an odd, but great, sensation.

Grape: He has your eyes. Beautiful orange.
Mango: That he does. I think his skin is going to be your purple tone. I see a slight purple tint starting in little areas of his skin.
Grape: We'll see. I-I don't know what to do. It seems so surreal. I can't believe he's ours.
Mango: Congrats, daddy *smiles*
Grape: Congrats to you too, mommy, he's beautiful. *smiles back*

That was the day my life changed forever. The best day of my life.

Chapter 9-12

A year after the miscarriage, Chantilly and Obsidian are officially young adults. And I'm happy to announce that are expecting...
